Refers to a group of disease that effect blood sugar (blood glucose)

Glucose is vital to your health because it’s an important source of energy for the cells that make up your muscles and tissues. It’s also your bain’s main source of fuel.

SYMPTOMS

·         Increased thirst

·         Frequent urination

·         Extreme hunger

·         Unexplained weight loss

·         Present of ketones (is a byproduct of the breakdown of muscle and fat that happens when there’s not enough insulin) in the urine.

·         Fatigue

·          Blurred vision

·         Slow-healing sores

·         Frequent infections ( gums or skin infection and vaginal or bladder infections)

COMPLICATION

·         Cardiovascular disease

·         Nerve damage (neuropathy)

·         Kidney damage (nephropathy)

·         Eye damage (retinopathy)

·         Foot damage

·         Skin and mouth condition problems (bacterial and fungal infections)

·         Osteoporosis

·         Alzheimer’s disease

TEST AND DIAGNOSIS

·         Anyone with BMI higher than 25 (regardless of age

·         Glycated hemoglobin (A1C) test

·         Random blood sugar test

·         Fasting blood sugar test
